About Us
The Prindle School is a music school in the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts offering OnSite private music lessons, classes, and ensembles, as well as OnLine private lessons and OnDemand classes. Our faculty have a wealth of experience delivering exactly the right program of lessons for each individual client: young children as they begin their music journey, highly dedicated professional musicians, adult learners who hope to bring more joy into their lives, and everything in between. Our owners, Dan and Michelle Prindle, have over 50 years of combined experience in music education. Dan holds a Ph.D. in music theory from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and also teaches music theory and ear training at Williams College. Michelle holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance from The Hartt School, is a Certified Waldorf Early Childhood Educator, and is currently enrolled as a Teaching Assistant in the Master of Music program in voice performance at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Mission Statement
It is The Prindle School’s mission to provide high-quality music education to students of all ages and abilities. Through music education, we aim to foster the growth of each student as a human being, building character, perseverance, confidence, resilience, and a creative spirit that will serve them throughout their lives.
Values Statement
We are an open and affirming educational institution. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, neurodivergence, or physical ability. We believe that tolerance alone is insufficient in modern times. We affirm our commitment not only to tolerate, but to accept people of all backgrounds. However, we also believe that acceptance is a social contract. To be accepted, one must also be accepting. We expect our students, clients, parents, and caregivers to value the humanity of others.
