Katie Morrissey
Katie Morrissey is a cello teacher, musician, and Certified Veterinary Technician. Katie began playing the cello at age 10. Her music education includes 6 years as a member of the Hartt Community Division at the Hartt School of Music studying with teachers Susan Robison and Professor Mihai Tetel. During this time she enjoyed playing in multiple chamber groups and youth orchestras. She further refined her musical skills spending a year at The Boston Conservatory at the Berklee School of Music studying with Professor Andrew Mark.
Katie’s other passion in life is caring for animals. She earned her Associate in Science in Veterinary Technology in 2021 and has spent the past several years enjoying being a nurse for countless species of animals. One of her favorite activities is combining her two passions by playing her cello for her favorite audience- a barn full of cows! She adores watching how each of them enjoy the deep timbre of the cello and how they moo in response!
Katie has attended several music festivals including the Tennessee Cello Workshops, David Einfelt Chamber Music, New England Music Festival, ARIA International, and Bowdoin International Music Festival where she performed in a cello quintet coached by Keiko Ying. She has gained valuable performance experience by playing in numerous master classes with accomplished cellists such as Alison Wells, Bruce Uchimura, Marc Johnson, Amir Eldan, Wesley Baldwin, Marcy Rosen, Katie Schlaikjer, Pam Devenport, John Kaboff, and Kirsten Cassel Greer.
Katie enjoys preparing students for all types of auditions, and teaching anyone who is excited about the cello! If you are brand new to the cello, need help reaching a personal goal, or anything in between, she looks forward to helping you succeed and have fun!
