Matthew Taylor
Matthew Taylor is a Western Mass-based opera singer and educator. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, with a concentration in Vocal Studies.
Matt’s recent operatic roles include: The Magic Flute (Monostatos) and Die Fledermaus (Frank) with UMass Opera, Falstaff (Chorister) with Berkshire Opera Festival, Die Fledermaus (Eisenstein) with Valley Light Opera, and L’italiana in Algeri (Haly) with La Musica Lirica and the Montefeltro Festival in Novafeltria, Italy.
Matt’s goal for his students is that they have fun and build a life long appreciation for music. He aims to help students find their voice and appreciate their own unique qualities and abilities. He teaches singers of all levels, focusing on foundational techniques that can be applied to various genres and styles.
Matt currently studies with internationally acclaimed soprano Maureen O’Flynn. Previous teachers include Kristján Jóhannsson, William Hite, Shelley Roberts, and Marjorie Heins.
